What is International Data Week? (top)

International Data Week (IDW) is a convening of data scientists, researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, policy makers, and data stewards to explore how best to exploit the data revolution to improve our knowledge and benefit society through data-driven research and innovation. IDW comprises three complementary events: SciDataCon 2016, the International Data Forum, and the 8th Research Data Alliance Plenary Meeting.

IDW will take place from 11-17 September 2016, with various events scheduled as follows:

  • 11-13 September 2016 - SciDataCon 2016
  • 14 September 2016 - International Data Forum
  • 15-17 September 2016 - Research Data Alliance's 8th Plenary Meeting

How do I make a hotel reservation? Is there a special conference rate? (top)

A block of guest rooms are available at the Sheraton Denver Downtown at the discounted rate of $199/night + $29.35/night tax USD. This rate will available for arrival 9 September - 18 September 2016, and is valid for single or double occupancy.

To make a reservation on-line, please CLICK HERE. Alternatively, within the United States, you may call 1-888-627-8404 and request accommodations under the International Data Week room block.

The cut-off date for reservations is 26 August 2016. We anticipate that the room block will sell out, so you are encouraged to book your reservation immediately. Should you need to cancel your hotel reservation, please do so at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival in order to avoid a penalty of one night's room & tax.

 

Is there a registration fee to attend International Data Week? (top)

The cost to attend IDW depends on your level of participation. Following is a breakdown of the registration fees:

  • Attending ALL Events: SciDataCon 2016, & the International Data Forum, and Research Data Alliance's 8th Plenary Meeting: $700 USD ($800 after 8 August)
  • Attending ONLY SciDataCon 2016 and the International Data Forum: $500 USD ($600 after 8 August)
  • Attending ONLY the International Data Forum and Research Data Alliance's 8th Plenary Meeting: $300 USD ($400 after 8 August)

 

Can I attend just one day of International Data Week? (top)

We do not offer a one-day registration pass. Participants are encouraged to attend the entire week, but are welcome to register for either SciDataCon 2016 or the 8th RDA Plenary.

 

Is parking available at the Sheraton Denver Downtown? (top)

What is the nearest airport? What are my transportation options from the airport to the Sheraton Denver Downtown? (top)

The nearest airport is Denver International Airport (DEN). Information about the airport, including an interactive map can be found here: http://www.flydenver.com.

The Sheraton Denver Downtown is located approximately 25 miles (45 minutes) from the Denver International Airport. The one-way SuperShuttle fare is $25.00 USD per person. The one-way taxi fare is approximately $56.00 USD. The following services can provide airport transportation to/from the Sheraton Denver Downtown:

The Sheraton Denver Downtown is also easily accessible by light rail (RTD) from Denver International Airport (DEN). The one-way fare is $9.00 USD.

From DEN, take the A-Line train to Union Station. From Union Station, located approximately 1 mile from the Sheraton Denver Downtown, you may ride the free MallRide bus down 16th Street. Exit the MallRide bus at Court Street (in front of the Sheraton). During the week, bus service is offered between 5:00 am and 1:21 am. On weekends, bus service is offered from 5:23 am-1:21 am. Will high-speed internet access be available at the host hotel? (top)

Yes, complimentary wireless internet will be available in all meeting rooms. If you are staying at the Sheraton Denver Downtown, complimentary internet access is also included in your guest room rate.

Can I receive a refund if I need to cancel my registration? (top)

If you must cancel your participation in IDW, we will issue a full refund if written notice is received by 8 August 2016. After this date, refunds will not be issued; however, you can send a substitute in your place.

 

What meals will be provided during the conference? (top)

Light breakfasts and lunches will be provided during IDW, as well as during evening receptions on select days of the week.
